Shiatsu For Pregnancy and Birth Preparation

Touch that listens and creates inner space

As you progress through your pregnancy and your body begins to change shape and grow, we can offer a more hands-on approach to your treatment.  Having shiatsu in the latter part of your pregnancy can be effective in relieving symptoms of:

  • Nausea and vomiting
  • fatigue
  • Lower back pain
  • Pelvic instability
  • Birth contractions

Shiatsu is deeply relaxing, calming and nurturing and is a wonderful way tune into your body at this special time in your life; to connect to your baby and how you may be feeling about your birth.

We also offer shiatsu pregnancy workshops to teach your partner acupressure techniques that can be applied to offer support and relief during each stage of birth and delivery for mum.

At week 37, you both attend a 2 hours workshop where we teach techniques and acupoints.  Your partner practices on you (bliss!) for 2 weeks, and then you both return at week 39 to review your technique and ask any last-minute questions.
